How we work
For parents & guardians
The first thing you need to do is register.
01. Find your GrandNanny
Once registered you will gain immediate access to our vault of amazing pre-vetted GrandNannies. This updates everyday. You can let us know if there’s someone who catches your eye that you would like to interview.
Our matching team will also work behind the scenes and share profiles for candidates we think could be perfect for you. The profiles for any matched GrandNannies in your area will be emailed to you. You will review the profiles of the GrandNannies we’ve sent you and let us know if you’d like to go ahead with an interview.

02. Interview
Next we arrange interviews between the GrandNanny and you. You can meet up to three GrandNannies free of charge – we know that finding ‘the one’ is tricky and chemistry is important.
We suggest a supervised meeting between your prospective GrandNanny and your whole family before you make an offer.
03. It’s a match
Once you have agreed to make an offer and your offer has been accepted we will invoice you the £285 placement fee. This covers vetting and onboarding your Grandnanny – including Enhanced DBS checks, child safeguarding and first aid training.
You will also receive an invoice for a security fee. The Security Fee ensures that if you happen to be late paying one month, we can still pay your GrandNanny with zero stress. At the end of the GrandNanny’s employment, we will deduct any holiday pay outstanding from this total and then return the balance to you.
There are some provisions we encourage you to consider to make sure your relationship with your GrandNanny goes as smoothly as possible, including agreeing a minimum number of hours. This will be written into your offer letter and contract.

04. Onboarding
You will become the Employer for your GrandNanny. This is important because every family is different and you will want to agree the particulars of your role with your GrandNanny.
We will provide templated offer letters and contracts. We encourage you to become comfortable and familiar with the details of hiring a Nannt. We are not a legal form so cannot offer bespoke advice. However, if you need a bespoke clause this can be arranged for an additional fee.
You will receive a monthly invoice from Grandnanny Ltd which you pay by direct debit. We will base this on the number of hours you have agreed with your Grandnanny as well as information you have provided about whether they have taken holiday and how that affected their usual shift pattern. We provide more information about holidays in our FAQ section. If you need to increase the number of hours worked in the month we will ask you to tell us by the 21st of each month so we can adjust your invoice and your GrandNanny’s pay accordingly.
We will run payroll on your behalf. This means you are free from the hassle of dealing with HMRC and making payments to your GrandNanny.
Fair and responsible pricing
We try to balance affordability with fair pay for the important work that Childcarers provide. In our recent survey 100% of parents told us that paying the real Living Wage was important to them.
We charge parents a £285 set-up fee only when we find a match you love. You can choose whether to pay this upfront or spread the cost over 12 months, adding £25 per month to your invoice.
Our ‘all-in’ hourly fees start from £16.25 (in London) and £15.75 (rest of UK). A higher rate usually applies when a household has more than two children. We will work with the GrandNanny and you to find a fair rate.
One-off Safe Start fee
We manage everything families need to employ a GrandNanny for a flat fee of £285.
The Safe Start fee can be paid at once or spread across a few monthly payments.
